Musical Interest

With a full undergrad workload, Nathan Avrunin still found time to be actively involved on campus. Being passionate about music, he was a dedicated member of Pride of the Orange, the Syracuse University Marching Band. The band put on incredible half time shows and helped cheer on the Syracuse Orange football team.

Mr. Avrunin continued to expand his involvement in marching band by joining the Eta Phi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Kappa Kappa Psi is a fraternal organization that encourages and aims to benefit and grow its members through their dedicated service to band. They uphold high expectations for education and provide leadership opportunities.

Mr. Avrunin was President of his chapter from 1989 to 1990. He also represented Eta Phi by serving as the District Vice President from 1989-1990. As the District VP it was his main responsibility to work hand in hand with the President and be the main contact between Colonies and the District. If any Vice President of Membership had any questions or concerns, Mr. Avrunin took care of the issue or directed them in the right direction.

Mr. Avrunin proudly entertained his campus by also being a member of the Chimemasters. To this day, the group is mostly comprised of volunteer music majors who take turns ringing Crouse College’s bells. A couple of times a day, members take turns climbing up a 70-foot ladder to play songs to ring throughout campus for the enjoyment of the student body. The music ranges from children’s tunes to the fight song to top 40 pop hits.
