Theta Chi Fraternity

Apart from his musical commitments, Nathan Avrunin was also a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Theta Chi is nationally recognized as one of the oldest men’s fraternities in North America. It was founded by Frederick Norton Freeman and Arthur Chase on April 10, 1856. The founding school was Norwich University in Norwich Vermont.

Theta Chi’s colors are military red and white with a matching red carnation as the official flower. Currently, Theta Chi has 129 active chapters in North America and 164,000 members since its installation.

Although the organization does not have a designated philanthropy, they encourage members to contribute to philanthropies such as The Starlight Children’s Foundation and the Kyle Charvat Foundation. The former aims to improve the life and health of kids around the world and the latter provides financial assistance to young adults battling cancer.

Mr. Avrunin was the 742nd member inducted into Syracuse University’s Theta Chi’s chapter. Through his commitment to his brothers, he learned the importance of contributing to his community and has continued to contribute to society, helping better the lives of those around him.
