If you’ve gone on social media at all in the last week, it is likely you have heard about the ALS ice bucket challenge. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s, is a disease that takes hold of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The ice bucket challenge has gone viral and created awareness as well as raised over $14 million in donations for the ALS Association.
Scott Shafer, Nathan Avrunin’s alma mater’s football coach, has accepted the ALS ice bucket challenge. Coach Shafer is a great sport about dumping ice cold water over his head and helps the awareness going by nominating other football coaches and associations.
